Court reports
Court reports are advocates' greatest advocacy tool. Court reports have the possibility to influence positive change for your youth while in dependency.
All new advocates must view this webinar prior to writing their first Court Report. The webinar provides an overview of the purpose and goals for reports, as well as guidance for how to write a strength-based, fact-based and youth-centered report. All advocates, tenured and new, are encouraged to watch to receive 1 CE credit before getting started on their case.
Advocates MUST be in contact with the youth’s attorney at least a week in advance of the hearing date to coordinate participation in the hearing.
Please let the PSW know if you plan to appear at the hearing.
You must contact the court clerk by 8:30 am on the hearing date.
You are encouraged to attend the hearing, especially if it is the first hearing since being assigned. It is a great opportunity to connect with team members and learn more about the dependency system.
If you are attending virtually, please remember proper video and court etiquette (please be in a confidential space; recording is not permitted, mute yourself, be present when your case is called).
Have your camera on (private and confidential setting, professional appearance) and include your first and last name and “CASA”.
You will receive detailed instructions specific to your case prior to the hearing date from the SFCASA email Programassistant@sfcasa.org.
