Introducing the Law, Child Protective Services, and the Court

 

The objective of this class is to introduce trainees to the child welfare system and the dependency court process the child, family, the parties to the youth’s case, and CASA volunteer must navigate.

Goals for this class include:

  • Familiarization with the federal and state laws and policies that guide the child welfare system, including the concept of legal permanency.

  • Learn about the key representatives and stakeholders in the child welfare and dependency court systems .

  • Understand how a dependency case progresses through the legal system.

  • Familiarization with the rights of youth and families involved with the dependency system.
