A new study has been published examining the prescribing of foster youth with antipsychotic drugs; 9.2% of foster youth actually receive more than one of these at the same time. These are the same drugs adults receive for treatment of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, some of which have only been tested in adults. The prescribing of these drugs to children is only increasing, with a 4,000% increase in children diagnosed with bipolar disorder between 1998 and 2008. Click here to read more.
