SFCASA Fall 2011 Continuing Education Classes

Wednesday, December 7th 6:00-8:30 pm
Connecting Youth with Community Resources
Trainer: Jill Tregor and guest panelists
Discover community resources that can enhance the quality of care that is provided to youth in the foster care system.  Although it is important that all youth in care have access to community resources, this access is especially critical for those in the most structured settings.  By helping youth to maintain connections to the communities to which they will eventually return, we can ease the transition when it actually occurs.  Additionally, community resources can provide opportunities for the development of health, self-esteem, and creativity in ways that may not otherwise be possible in a home setting.  Volunteers will be provided with lots of materials on local resources for their CASA child, as well as get a chance to hear from a panel of representatives from agencies that provide services to foster youth, including Guardian Scholars, Foster Youth Services, Larkin Street Youth Services, and Jewish Vocational Services.
About the Trainer:  JILL TREGOR is an instructor in the Health Education Department at City College of San Francisco.  She has worked at the Department on the Status of Women for the City and County of San Francisco, and was the Director of The Greenbook Project San Francisco, which worked to improve outcomes for families dealing with the intersection of domestic violence and child abuse.  Ms. Tregor has worked closely with Family & Children’s Services at the Human Services Agency, as well as with the Family Courts and Domestic Violence organizations.
